Review by Axell

Highly engaging and satisfying. This standalone fantasy novel follows the story of Tress, both a window washer and an unlikely protagonist, as she stows away on a ship and finds herself travelling the spore seas. Facing off against nobility, smugglers, deadly seas, pirates, dragons and sorceresses, our young protagonist manages to stay relatable, using nothing but a trait rare in heroes - common sense. If you imagine Buttercup from The Princess Bride going after Westley instead of leaving him for dead, you’ll have a fairly good idea of what you may find within these pages.

Written in the voice of one of Sanderson's most infamous reoccurring characters, this book ties in several different threads of his wider Cosmere. However, the book can also be read as a standalone so is fantastic for veterans of Sanderson and a brilliant introduction for new readers.
