*** My two kids absolutely loved this book and gave it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. The story made them think. We discussed how the story was a love story, but also had a hidden meaning, which is called an “allegory.”

We talked about themes of racism and other excuses people around the world have for not getting along, and how the story explored themes of conflict and reconciliation in a creative and engaging way.

I tried to say that the story could also be seen as an allegory for the relationship between America and Canada; however, my daughter just rolled her eyes - they obviously couldn't see Trump ever coming to the table - I didn’t press the matter. 🤦 - Nick Day
