Darci's Review
The Book of Azrael by Amber Nicole is the beginning of an epic romantasy saga - the Gods & Monsters series. The Book of Azrael is equal parts action and steamy romance, with immersive world-building that beautifully blends the genres of urban fantasy and science-fiction.
The Book of Azrael follows female protagonist, Diana. Equipped with sass, a stubborn attitude, and a tragic backstory, Diana is a ruthless, fiery and nuanced character with the tenacity to 'kill now, ask questions later'. To save her sister from a deadly plague, Diana enters a bargain with Kaden - an immortal Ig'Morruthen demon and self-imposed King of Otherworldly creatures. Now sworn into an immortal life with immense power, Diana serves as Kaden's right-hand assassin. Locked out of the Otherworld realm and stuck on Onuna, a planet like Earth, Diana finds that Kaden has begun keeping secrets about the ancient artefact he needs for his plans. Finding this artefact will alert The Hand, an elite taskforce of Celestial beings with God-like powers and speed, and if one of them fall their leader, immortal enemy of the Ig'Morruthen, Samkiel the World Ender, will come back to earth. To keep her sister alive, Diana must uphold her end of the bargain and follow Kaden's orders exactly. But when an opportunity to gain control of her life while simultaneously keeping her sister alive appears, Diana must make a choice - rally against Kaden's evil plans and risk her sisters life, or stay under his command to protect her sister and condemn Onuna to a tyrannical reign of Otherworldly power and greed?
Nicole's writing is brilliant and fully immerses the reader into societal and political issues facing Onuna. Many themes are explored within The Book of Azrael's intricate plot, such as found family, one's battle between their own good and bad desires, and the intricacies of romantic, platonic, and familial love. The Book of Azrael emphasises that nothing is ever black and white, but muddy shades of grey, and that even the darkest of creatures would do anything for their loved ones, no matter the cost. If you're looking for an enticing read brimmed with romance, action-packed plot, and ethereal world-building, I highly recommend The Book of Azrael.

WHERE THERE ARE GODS, THERE ARE ALSO MONSTERS . . .
For a thousand years, the Etherworld has known peace. Until now.
Many centuries ago, desperate to save her dying sister, Dianna made a deal with Kaden, a monster far worse than any nightmare. Locked in servitude to him, she is forced to hunt down an ancient relic held by her most dangerous enemies: an army led by Samkiel, the World Ender.
After the Gods War, Samkiel hid from everything, denying his crown and deserting his people. Now, an attack on those he loves sends him back to the realm he never wished to return to, and into the sights of an enemy he had hoped to forget.
With every world at stake, Dianna and Samkiel are forced to set aside their animosity and work together, before all is lost . . .
Don't miss the next book in this series, THE THRONE OF BROKEN GODS and look out for Book 3 coming soon . . .
'Amber's series breaks the rules in the best way. Her main character is strong, capable, and unapologetically powerful. There is no damsel here. This story is filled with fast-paced action, an in-depth world, and a romance that goes from simmer to boil. If you like romantasy, read this!' - RAVEN KENNEDY
'A wicked ride from beginning to heart shattering end. Leaving me literally screaming for more. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to get more our morally corrupt heroine who you can't help but root for, along with the giggle inducing banter between her and the heroic god Samkiel' - HANNAH NICOLE MAEHER
