The Outsiders (S.E Hinton)
The Outsiders is a heart wrenching and moving story, set in the mid sixties about a small group of teenagers and the “gang” that they form, brothers in everyway except blood. The story follows the event of the two youngest members of the gang Ponyboy and his best friend Johnny after they get into an unfortunate event regarding the rival socio-economical class called the Soc’s follow Ponyboy and the gang as they try to resolve the situation they are in, but everything comes at a cost.
Hinton does an excellent job at bringing to life the problems and pain felt by these characters, really connecting the reader with the characters and events, in more of an emotional level than most books. Most definitely a must-read classic for any young readers.
